Division Meeting 5/7/22 Minutes

May 7, 2022, 3:00 pm

I.     Call to order

Adrien Dessens called to order the Board meeting of the Gulf Coast Division at 3:10 pm on May 7, 2022, on Zoom.

II.     Roll call

Liz Mayerich conducted a roll call. The following persons were present:

·       Adrien Dessens, Chair

·       Liz Mayerich, Secretary

·       Chuck Wemple, Treasurer

·       Kathy Machol, Galveston Fencing Club

·       Rachel El-Saleh, Space City Fencing Academy

·       John Trojanowski, Galveston Fencing Club etc.

III.     New Business

a)           Planning the Annual General Meeting – The date and time for the Annual General Meeting was set for June 11, 2022 at 7:30pm. The agenda will include officer reports, officer elections, and basic planning for the 22-23 season. Grace Buchanan of Coastal Bend Fencing Society has requested a change to the South Texas Division, and this will also be discussed if Grace is available. Liz Mayerich will send information about this meeting to the clubs soon, to educate members about the officer positions.

b)           Division Coaching Clinic – Adrien Dessens discussed the future of a Division-sponsored coaching clinic. The date was tentatively set for August 20-21 with Houston Sword Sports hosting. Liz Mayerich and HSS will reach out to Vinnie Bradford to get a cost estimate.

c)            Financial Report – Chuck Wemple presented the treasurer’s report for December 5, 2021-May 7, 2022. This report is included in these minutes. The current balance is $6,155.06.

d)           Approval of Minutes – The minutes from the December 5 meeting were approved by unanimous vote.

IV.     Adjournment

Adrien Dessens adjourned the meeting at 3:40 pm.

Informal Financial Update- Gulf Coast Division of USA Fencing

May 7. 2022

Division Meeting - presented verbally by Chuck Wemple

I deposited the recent check from USA Fencing into our Division account on May 7, 2022.  The check amount is $837 and includes Division Rebates for the 1st and 2nd Quarters of the 2021 and 2022 season.  The quarterly amounts are as follows.  1st Quarter - $648.00.  2nd Quarter - $189.00.  Combined total $837.00

Our previous balance was $5,318.06 and our new balance is $6.155.06.  I have the bank information available to share via the zoom screen if anyone would like to see it.
