Gulf
Coast Division General Information
The Gulf Coast
Division is a geographic area in which a group of clubs operate.
It is one of seven geographical areas in the larger Southwest Section,
itself one of many Sections in the United States. Both Divisions
and Sections are components of the USFA (United States Fencing
Association) administrative hierarchy.
The Division's
Bylaws define our Division's geographic area as:
"Beginning
at the mouth of the Sabine River, at the Texas-Louisiana border.
Extending west down the Texas Gulf Coast to the Mexican Border.
Thence west following the Mexican-Texas border to the junction of
US Highway 77. Thence northward following US Highway 77 to the point
where it is intersected by the 31st parallel of latitude. Thence
east following the 31st parallel to the Texas-Louisiana border.
"Thence southward following the Texas-Louisiana Border to the
mouth of the Sabine River."
This area includes
the following communities: Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange, Houston,
Galveston, Lake Jackson, Corpus Christi, Bryan and College Station.
These areas are the most active, with the most fencers and several
fencing clubs.
Brownsville,
Harlingen, Victoria, Schulenburg, LaGrange, Columbus, Sealy, Huntsville,
Conroe, Cleveland, and Livingston also fall under our Division but
have no known fencing organizations.
