As required by Division Bylaws, there will be a meeting of the membership of the Gulf Coast Division Saturday, April 23, prior to the beginning of competition, at which the Division elections for 2004-2005 will not occur.

All fencers in all competitions must be USFA Competitive Members who are either citizens or permanent residents of the United States of America. Only members of the Gulf Coast Division may compete in this Division's Qualifying Competitions. Competitors whose memberships are not verified during pre-registration will be asked to show a membership card or a current and valid receipt of membership to the registration committee. USFA membership forms will be available at the tournament. Junior fencers are reminded they need the signature of a parent or guardian (not a coach) on the membership form; Payment for memberships is made directly to the USFA. Participants are required to fence in proper fencing attire; USFA rules will be applied. There are no alternate qualifiers to any National tournaments.

VETERANS with a "C" classification or lower fencing in the Division II/III qualifier (or any veterans in the Section Division-IA Qualifier) are automatically qualified for that Veterans event at Summer Nationals. There is not a separate qualifier. Veterans must be born in 1964 or before (always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form).

YOUTH 10 - All fencers born between 1994 and 1997 who have fenced in one Regional or Super Youth Circuit Competition or youth NAC in the 2004-2005 season in that age category and weapon are qualified to participate in Summer Nationals. Also, all fencers on the Youth-10 national point standings as of May 30, 2005 are qualified to participate.. Always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form. There is not a separate qualifier for this age group.

YOUTH 12 - All fencers born between 1992 and 1995 (or younger if on the Y10 national point standings) who have fenced in one Regional or Super Regional Youth Circuit Competition or youth NAC in the 2004-2005 season in that age category and weapon are qualified to participate in Summer Nationals.  Also, all fencers on the Youth-12 national point standings as of May 30, 2005  Always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form. There is not a separate qualifier for this age group.

YOUTH 14 - Fencers must have been born in 1990 through 1993 (or younger if on the Y12 national point standings), and place in the top 25% at the qualifying event in this tournament (fencers on the Y14 national point standings as of May 30, 2005 automatically qualify).  (Always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form.)

UNDER 16 - Fencers must have been born in 1989 through 1992 (or younger if on the Y14 national point standings), and place in the top 25% at the qualifying event in this tournament (fencers on the Cadet national point standings as of May 1, 2005 and the top 8 on the Y14 point standings as of May 1, 2005 automatically qualify). Any fencer of eligible age who any fencer who has qualified for the Under-19 National Championships becomes an automatic qualifier for the Under-16 Championships.  (Always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form.)

UNDER 19 Fencers must have been born in 1986 through 1992 (or younger if on the Cadet national point standings) and automatically qualify if on the Junior or or in the top 16 of the Cadet point standings as of May 1, 2005 (always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form). Under 19 qualify through the Section Qualifier. There is not a Division qualifying path.

DIVISION II/III - Division II Fencers must have been born in 1992 or earlier (or younger if on the Junior national point standings) AND must be classified as "C", "D", "E" or Unclassified at the time they qualify. Division III fencers must have been born in 1992 or earlier (or younger if on the Junior national point standings) AND must be classified as "D", "E" or Unclassified at the time they qualify.  Division II fencers must place in the top 25% at the qualifying event in this tournament (or automatically qualify by qualifying for Division 1-A, or for Division 2, or for U-19, or for U-16 national championships, or have placed in the top 4 of the 2004 Division III national championships).  Division III fencers must place in the top 25% of the "D", "E", and "U" fencers at the qualifying event in this tournament, skipping over those who may qualify at the event for Division II (or automatically qualify by qualifying for Division 1-A, or for U-19, or for U-16 national championships)  Always verify birth years on the USFA web site or the Summer National Qualifier entry form. There is not a separate qualifier for Division III.

DIVISION I and OPEN TEAMS - The Division's Team Qualifying Competition will be used to qualify teams to both the Division I Team National Championships and the Open Team National Championships. Only one team per club is permitted to qualify. Division Composite teams are not allowed.

UNDER 19 TEAM - Fencers must be under nineteen years of age as of January 1 in the season of the Championships. Only one team per club is permitted to qualify. Division Composite teams are not allowed. Each member of the team must be a USFA and Gulf Coast Texas Division competitive member.

All weapons will be fenced electrically. There are separate men's and women's events.
